WHO WE ARE
מי אנחנו
The initiative שאלו שלום ירושלים / Seek Peace Jerusalem calls on members of the religious communities in Jerusalem, including Jewish students learning Torah in the Holy City, to join hands with our fellow Jerusalemites who suffer from discrimination.
In the neighborhoods of Sheikh Jarrah and Batan Al-Hawa (part of Silwan), approximately 150 families - more than 1000 individuals - face unjust eviction from their homes as a result of discriminatory legislation and unethical cooperation between government agencies and private organizations seeking to “Judaize” Arab neighborhoods.
Isaiah’s vision of בית תפילה לכל העמים / “my House shall become a house of prayer for all the nations” will only become a reality when all families in Jerusalem, regardless of race or religion, feel safe in their homes.
We seek to raise a public religious Jewish voice in opposition to the evictions and in support of the families. We must uphold the moral vision at the core of our eternal connection to Yerushalayim as voiced by the ancient prophets of Israel who walked her streets.
Stand with us in faithfulness to Israel and Jerusalem and justice - Join us in raising our voices to protect our neighbors.
